About

The Institute for Preservation and Progress
Grounded in Legacy. Geared for the Future.

At The Institute for Preservation and Progress (TIPP), we believe that innovation and preservation are not opposing forces—but essential partners in building a just, sustainable future. Founded in 2025 and headquartered in Maryland, TIPP is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working at the intersection of infrastructure, environment, culture, and community.

Our mission is simple but urgent: to ensure that the pace of development never outruns the wisdom of preservation. We advance solutions that protect land, legacy, and public health while guiding ethical progress that truly serves people and places.

Through a powerful mix of independent research, public education, advocacy, and legal action, TIPP supports communities facing the pressures of harmful development—from transmission corridors to digital infrastructure, from farmland loss to ecological disruption. Our work is grounded in deep investigation, informed strategy, and community-centered impact.

TIPP collaborates with a diverse network of landowners, conservationists, legal experts, scientists, and policymakers. Whether exposing flawed planning processes, drafting model legislation, or activating grassroots networks, we aim to shift systems—not just stories.

At the heart of our work is the belief that what we choose to protect defines what we value as a society. TIPP is here to protect what matters—while imagining what’s next.

Join us in setting a new standard for responsible progress.

Leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of tomorrow.
